Olivier Reix - France

This section contains the columns of Olivier Reix, who will be reporting from France.

About Olivier Reix:

Born in 1971, Olivier enjoyed gaming from Monopoly to anything else. As a teenager he played a lot of D&D, Junta, Cosmic Encounter and Diplomacy, which were published in French by Jeux Descartes. He was also an avid reader of the magazine Jeux & Stratégie which was maybe the biggest selling game magazine in the world at the time. He also always enjoys a good card game (Tarot and Belote first) but missed Magic completely and discovered German games late in 1999/2000 with Kahuna and (yes) the Settlers of Catan.

Olivier was one of the founders of the "Jeu de l'Année" now renamed "As d'Or - jeu de l'année" which tries to be the French equivalent of the Spiel des Jahres. He is also one the founders of the Jeux en Société game club and runs a small web site since 2002, Les Ptits jeux du Mercredi, more or less specializing in boardgame news (French and international). He also did some occasional French rules translations (Age of Steam, Kramer's Maharaja, Employee of the Month) and writes in the French monthly boardgame magazine Jeux sur un Plateau. His favorite designers are probably Reiner Knizia and Martin Wallace and would play Modern Art or Age of Steam at any time in the day.

Olivier currently resides in Grenoble in the Alps of France.
