This is my report from the last day of the New York Toy Fair. My main victim today was Out of the Box Publishing and I also made a quick visit to Front Porch Classics, who had a deluxe version of a classic game. Here we go!

Wow, is this report late!
As mentioned in my previous report, I got quite ill during the fair. I was able to attend all four days (barely) but ran out of steam when it came to reporting on days three and four. When I got back home I was still sick and had a ton of work to catch up on, so this report got delayed until I was better and relatively caught up. That’s finally happened, so here we go!
My third day of the fair was a relatively short one. Like the day before I got to the fair later in the afternoon. I spent a fair amount of time with both Stephan Brissaud of Asmodee and Will Niebling of Mayfair Games and got some good scoop from both of them.

Before we get to the games, a bit of a digression…
Before I got to New York I had picked up a slight cough and that turned into a full blown miserable cold shortly after I got here. Both yesterday and today I was feeling terrible, made worse by the fact that I barely slept either two nights. The consequence of this was that I didn’t get to the show until later in the afternoon today.
I did get to see a few interesting things, though, and after the show I got to play a playtest copy of the upcoming Age of Empires III game from Eagle.
Now, onto the games!

After typing up and posting Part 1 of today’s report, I went for a bit of a walk around the fair and then popped into Educational Insights.
Walking around the Toy Fair is a dizzying experience. Every kind of toy you could possibly imagine is on display here - plus a few that you probably couldn’t imagine. In addition to the usual big companies there are zillions of smaller ones hawking dolls, remote control tanks, yo-yos, wind-up toys and everything else.

It’s February in New York and that can only mean one thing - Snow! Oh, and the New York Toy Fair…
In what seems to be becoming a Toy Fair tradition, New York was hit with a massive snowstorm the night before the show was to start. I woke up this morning to a huge pile of snow on the ground and as I walked outside the snow was still falling heavily. By the time I caught a cab I was completely covered in snow. The cab ride to the Javits Center, where the Toy Fair is being held, was hilarious - we went no more than five miles an hour the whole way and on more than one occasion the cab narrowly missed smashing into other cars that were sliding all over the road.
Anyway, enough about the weather, let’s talk about the Toy Fair! The Toy Fair is humongous and is filled any and all kinds of toys. Games are just a small part of the Toy Fair, and the games I’m interested in - the German style games - are even a smaller part.
