3D Adventures, Coming Fall 2008 from Basic Concepts
If you want to catch the attention of mainstream retailers, think about having a strong marketing hook on which to hang your game. Basic Concepts, for example, is releasing a pair of 3D board games in Fall 2008 in which the board is a giant pop-up platform, something that will look cool on television and result in a tagline that parents love to see on any box: No assembly required.

The games, Treasure of the Lost Pyramid and Haunted Ruins, share a storyline that involves The Relic Raiders, characters who circle the globe collecting treasures for an evil billionaire who masquerades as a philanthropist – pretty meaty stuff considering the targeted age range is 8 and 6, respectively. In Treasure of the Lost Pyramid, players have to figure out which treasure awaits at the top of the pyramid in order to claim both the treasure and victory; Haunted Ruins has players trying to escape from said ruins by using shortcuts and avoiding the zombie.

Each games retails for $30, and Toys R Us will carry both games in the months leading up to the holiday season.
