Acquire to Return in June 2008

Acquire, Sid Sackson’s business game masterpiece, will return in June 2008 in a new edition from Avalon Hill.

This version, packaged in a square box that’s 10.5” on a side, will include a roughly 20” x 10” gameboard, along with 108 hotel tiles, 7 chain tiles, and a 24-page rulebook. The list price is $30, which will perhaps inspire all sorts of speculation on the components. The details will have to be revealed later as the cover is the only image for now.

This game has been added to Gone Cardboard.

If the ultra-chintzy 50th anniversary version of Diplomacy is any indication (cardboard chits???), we probably shouldn’t expect too much from the components.  Maybe they’ll surprise me.  Always good to see another version of the First Euro, though.

They missing the great opportunity to make memorable 50th editions (once again: Diplomacy with cardboard chits!?) and I’m afraid Acquire will suffer the same problem: cheap editions to reach the mass market. I like the cover, though. But, where’s the Sid Sackson name?

I’d like a nice edition of this, hopefully the components will match the snazzy cover.
