Age of Steam: CCCP, Another Take on Russian Rails

Alban Viard has passed along details of the third of his three Age of Steam expansions that will be released at Spiel 08. Age of Steam: CCCP takes place in the Soviet Union, and in addition to moving goods and laying track, players want to be as red as possible because the player who delivers the fewest red cubes can’t win the game, no matter how good his score.

Don’t worry about the random distribution of goods at the start of the game because the state is ready to lend a hand. During setup, players place five red cubes on the Soviet flag. Anyone who takes the Communism action, which replaces Production, can place one of these red cubes anywhere on the board. What’s more, one black cube is placed on each black town during setup, and the Communism action also allows you to swap a black cube for a red one from the flag. Better red than dead!

Viard says three-quarters of the 120 sets that will be available at Spiel 08 have already been reserved. If you want to reserve a set, which costs €30, email Viard, who will let you know when and where to pick up the set.
