An Update on Mayfair’s Anti-Discounting Efforts
ICv2.com has posted an update on Mayfair Games’ effort to hold retailers to a maximum of 20% discount off the MSRP of its games, such as The Settlers of Catan. As noted in the article, while talking on the subject at Gen Con 2008, Mayfair’s vice president of sales Bob Carty noted that the number of retailers discounting below 20% is less than a dozen, down from 113 in late 2007. The Wall Street Journal article on minimum princing agreements that’s referenced on ICv2 can be found (at least for now) on Mindfully.com.
