And the Third Title from Avalon Hill in 2008 Is…

Wizards of the Coast, the Hasbro branch that handles the Avalon Hill line of games, has already released info on two of the AH titles due out in 2008: new editions of both Diplomacy (due March 14) and Acquire (due June 13) in modest, affordable editions retailing for $30 each.

Wild speculation has surrounded the news that Avalon Hill would release a trio of titles this year, with guesses for the final game ranging from one classic out-of-print title to another. In fact, the third title will be a blend of old and new. The Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition will bring Italy – the third Axis power during World War II – into the game in addition to introducing cruiser units to the naval lineup. This edition, designed and developed by A&A creator Larry Harris, will feature the largest A&A board of any of the series’ titles at 24” x 46” and include more than 600 pieces. Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition will retail for $100 and is due to be released on October 23, 2008.
