Andrea “Liga” Ligabue: Cosa Bolle in Pentola ? #12 - Acchittocca group!
Hi gamers
Here I’m for may 12 interviews! At least posting 1 interview every month I could cover 1 year! But my aim is to post once a week ... so I’m still at the beginning. And I really don’t know if I’ll been able to find 52 Italian’s designers/publishers ... not so easy if they are groups, like Acchittocca! But now we can proceed ...
[Liga] Hi “Acchittocca” ... it is really
strange to have a group in front of me ... anyway, please, every one of
you could give a short introduction of himself and, of course, a short
introduction of Acchittocca too
[Acchittocca] We had the idea of founding a group of game inventors in
the 2001, when we was coming back all together from
href="http://gdr.net/muccagames/">Mucca games, an italian game
convention. On the car we talked about the prototypes we tried during
the convention: it was more enjoyable and… useful than working alone!
The name “Acchittocca” (it can be translated from Italian as
“Who’sNext") was born “playing”: we proposed and eliminated many
possible names. We have chosen it, at the end, in order to receive a lot
of subliminal advertising, every time a player will ask it during a
game! :)
Usually we start working on a game idea proposed by one of us: he
prepares the first prototype and leads the following brainstorming. Many
new ideas are proposed by everyone and the “project manager” chooses how
to develop the game. It is not unusual that someone wants to try to
develop the game in a different way and so sometimes we try two different
version of it.
Antonio: since I was a child I liked to create pencil-and-paper
games and I’ve been immediately attracted by games like Corteo (CUnSA)
and M (Internat Team). Then I falled in love with role playing games and
spent a lot of time as a master. In the last 10 years I’ve been captured
by “Magic daemon” and videogames. There is not a game that I prefer
above all others, it depends from the moment. In this moment I play a
lot “War of the Ring”.
Flaminia: I’ve played all great classics from “Barbie queen of
the ball” to D&D (played as a child even before the first Italian
edition!). So I’ve learned many useful things… and I begone to play in
every situation. Now I use the game also as a work (educational,
didactics, social communication) and I work and play always in a group:
I also work in ConUnG (translate: WithAGame).
Stefano: I am a game fan since ever, I began to collect them when
I was 6 years old. I’ve written many articles on Kaos and GiocAreA (two old
game magazines) and on GiocAreA I’ve published the first version of Viva il Re!
(King Me!), now published by
href="http://www.davincigames.it">da. My favourite game is “The
settlers of Catan”, but recently I’ve played a lot “War of the Ring”. My
favourite game author is Klaus Teuber, because I think that in his games
the setting is more important that in other German Games. I like to say
that his games are “warm” and not “cold”.
Virginio: I’ve always liked game in all his aspects, also creating
it. I still store my first creations, some of them made even 25 years
ago (I’m 37), that even if very “candid” can be considered dignified
(but I cannob be impartial). I’ve been a collaborator of Ludonet, a
company that produced web games. I like above all gamers games, with few
luck, and those are the games that I like most to create. Since 15 years
I work as a paymaster, but I dream to be able to invent games as my
unique profession.
[Liga] Nice! To people that still don’t know
you, the full names are Flaminia Brasini, Antonio Tinto, Stefano Luperto
e Virginio Gigli ... and now, Cosa bolle in pentola ?
[Acchittocca] This year our first 2 games signed Acchittocca will be
published. Leonardo daVinci that will be published by daVinci Games, is set
in the Florence of the Renaissance; players are inventors that, helped
by their apprentices, try to realize the most spectacular inventions. The
second game, published by Wath’s your game?, is a bluff and deduction
game. It is quite curious that Leonardo daVinci will be da’s first
gamers game, while What’s your game will publish their first family
game… we are quite eclectic! daVinci has also decided to publish
Deadtective, an investigative party game played in team, that will be
publish in the Gioconda line. We have also 3 games ready that editor
from all over the world are currently evaluating.
[Liga] Leonardo was presented in Nuremberg in
these days ... I hope for you it will go well. And what are you thinking
for the future ?
[Acchittocca] We are working on 5 prototypes, but we have shown them
only to fiends and colleagues. They are very different games, because
since we are 4 we have quite different styles. Some of the games are
more complex (The age of the comuni) while others are more light
(Holding).
[Liga] And since I always say “I know you if I
know what you like to play” ... which are the 10 games you like to play
most ?
