Andrea “Liga” Ligabue: Cosa Bolle in Pentola ? # 25 - Gianfranco Sartoretti
Hi gamers
I’m running to cover most of the new Italian designers before Essen fair. And so after Claudio Gelosa and Andrea Mainini is now the turn of Gianfranco Sartoretti, a new name. And a new game, High Voltage, that I hope to quick review soon here on BoardGameNews. After Gianfranco probably I’ll be able to interview Paolo Mori and also, I hope, before Essen, Emanuele Ornella, one of the fews big still not touched by Cosa Bolle in Pentola.
Gianfranco Sartoretti is also for me a new entry and so I’m been really pleased about this interview. He comes from the big groups of new designers settled around Turin and the web site www.inventoridigiochi.it. High Voltage, just like UR and Histrycoach (and probably many other games) comes out from the great designers event that is IdeaG, that will take place every year in January in Piossasco, close to Turin, thanks to the big effort by Walter Obert.
[Liga] Hi Gianfranco, nice to have the opportunity to interview you. I know almost nothing about you so, please, tell us something about yourself
[Gianfranco] I am 44 years old and I live near Turin, lost in a green country. I am married with Silvia, a non player woman. I have 2 children, Enrico (13) and Anna (11), good players and always first testers of my prototypes. My hobbies: chess, my children, reading, learn and play new games. I make new games for fun and to enjoy my sons that help me to realize the first prototypes. But I am principally a player that prefers many games but no more then 2 hours long.
[Liga] So, Gianfranco, you tell you are more a gamer than a designer: that is nice because often we come across designers that are not really inside the game world. Now that you have your High Voltage published, Cosa Bolle in Pentola ?
[Gianfranco] I want to realize some of my numerous prototypes, closed in a drawer. I hope to present, in January 2007, at “Idea Gâ€?, the con of Inventori di Giochi, 2 new games. One is almost ready for the test, the name of the game is “Luci sulla Moleâ€?, a gift to Turin (Mole is “Mole Antonelliana, the greatest Turin monument n.d.r.). The play-test will be done by my friends of “Giocatorinoâ€?.
[Liga] That sounds really good. I really need to try to be in Piossasco this year. Which projects for the future ?
[Gianfranco] A new game in collaboration with another designer/player, friend of mine. In 2007 I would be in Essen and may be, for the first time, in Nuremberg. I hope to realize a difficult game but my first objective is a an easy one, very quick and very funny, just to spend 10 minutes gaming.
[Liga] So a filler! Finally, since you told us you are a gamer, please the 10 games you like to play most!
[Gianfranco] RAJA, LOCO, SAMURAI, STRATEGO, THURN UND TAXIS, CORSARI, CARTAGENA, KEYTHEDRAL, KRETA and, of course, HIGH VOLTAGE !
[Liga] Thank you for your time Gianfranco. See you in Essen! Good play and good luck!
