Andrea “Liga” Ligabue: ModCon 2007 Preview

Hi gamers

this week end will be the highest moment in the Italian Gamers life, since it will be ModCon again: thousands of gamers filled in the Polisportiva Sacca spaces, grabbing tables and games, playing tournaments, flipping cards, moving meeples and rolling dices, close to strange peoples dressed like Vampires or Orcs while, in the backyard, an incredible amount of tables are invaded by painted miniatures resembling armies from the past, the present and the future!

This is ModCon! This is a convention! The game room with over 300 boxes to take and play; more than 15 boardgames tournaments and events including Caylus, Dungeon Twister, Memoir’44 and Puerto Rico. Designers and publishers showing new products and releases. A nice window on the Italian market just few weeks before Essen.

Of course I’ll be there, from 21 to 23 of September, playing, photographing and reporting news and events, with a special for the new boardgames release.

Angelo Porazzi Games

Angelo Porazzi will be the coordinator of the Area Autoproduzione (self-publishers Area) that will feature several new interesting boardgamews from almost unknown designers (more than 10), some also present in Essen 2007 spiel. It will be a nice area also for me to look around hoping to find some nice interesting little jewel!

Angelo by himself will bring in ModCon the 11th Warangel generation, including the new maps, BOL (Ball of Lights) and LovePigs (published by PostScriptum).

daVinci Games

davinci Games will be in ModCon with a Bang! tournament and also with the presentation of F.A.T.A.L that will be released in Essen 2007. We hope also to see Emiliano Sciarra, usually attending the ModCon and some of the Acchittocca Team.

Ghenos Games

Will be at ModCon with 2 Race the Wind tournament. I hope also they bring some copy of the new Bolide Tracks to see and try

Giochix.it

Don’t partecipate at ModCon but it is possibile that they will bring for me a copy of just printed Bulp! and Me to try ... I hope some news for you after the con!

KDS/Stratelibri

Andrea Chiarvesio, Kingsburg designer, will be at ModCon with some pre-production copies of the game, I have already played it several time so I really hp after the con to write a review for BGN and post some pictures.

Mind the Move

Since they will not attend Essen this year it could be that Emanuele Ornella and Barbara will be visiting ModCon. Of course I hope to see and play some protoype but there is nothing official so I just only have ti guess

Nexus Games

Nexus Games will be, as usual, present at ModCon supporting tournaments and events and also presenting theyr news. There will be tournament of Drakon, Dungeon Twister and Wings of War ... I also hope to play Rattle Jungle with Roberto di Meglio (designer), Micro-mutants Evolutions with Maggi and Nepitello and see somthing about Age of Conan and Battles of Napoleon. Of course I’ll be reporting everything for you!
Also ther will be two tournaments and an official event about Garibaldi - La Trafila that will be soon also available in english.

RedGlove

Easy School will be presented in ModCon and also on Saturday there will be the first tournament

Scribabs

Paolo Vallerga will be in ModCon with his productions including StarSystem. I hop also to try Galateus and Magonà, the new games in the Conquest Saga setting

TenkiGames

Luca Pansecchi, Tenkigames CEO, will be in ModCon from friday with the just printed Chang Cheng. Of course it will be great for me finally to play the game with the final art and materials.

What’s Your Game ?

I’m quite sure Ghost for Sale will be not ready for the ModCon but I hope to play some prototype with the Acchittocca team

ModCon will be full of events. My detailed report will be on-line some days after the Con, just the time to write it!
