Android, Coming from Fantasy Flight in December
For the past few months, Fantasy Flight Games has been sneaking out promos, videos and press releases related to the Jinteki Corporation. All of that behind-the-scenes viral marketing has finally led to the announcement of a new title called Android. Here’s a description from FFG:
Android is a ground breaking new board game by Kevin Wilson (Arkham Horror, Descent) of murder and conspiracy set in a dystopian future. Detectives travel between the city of New Angeles and moon colony Heinlein chasing down leads, calling in favors, and uncovering the sinister conspiracy beneath it all. The detectives must balance their pursuit of the murderer against their personal lives and their inner demons.
Will you play as Louis Blaine, the crooked cop tormented by guilt and loss? Or will you take the role of Caprice Nisei, the psychic clone who struggles to retain her sanity while proving that she’s as human as anyone else? Whoever you choose to play, you’ve got just two weeks to solve the murder, uncover the conspiracy, and face your personal demons.

FFG’s Bryan Bornmueller says that Android has been in development for more than two years, yet nothing about the game has been publicized openly until now. “Why the secrecy?” he writes. “We did not want to reveal Android before it was perfect and we wanted to give it a marketing campaign worthy of the game. Our viral marketing has already built a base line of excitement in this innovative project.”
Fantasy Flight has posted a movie-style trailer of the game online. (The game also has its own information page on FFG’s newly redesigned website.)
Android is for 3-5 players with a playing time of 120-240 minutes and a retail price of $60. Android is due to be released in early to mid-December 2008. This game has been added to Gone Cardboard.

Wow, FFG already has one of the best websites around, and they decided to update it anyways. :) Android looks interesting. Posted by Jim Cote on Nov 21, 2008 at 10:56 PM | #

After using the new site for a while, I feel it’s a step backwards. Harder to navigate. Harder to read. Posted by Jim Cote on Nov 23, 2008 at 10:40 PM | #

My main issue with the site is that I can feel my computer slowing down as all its resources are sucked up by the constant video. The presentation of the games should appeal to a mainstream audience, but being able to turn off the video permanently would be a nice addition. Eric Posted by W.
