Ask Czech Games Edition: Soooooo, What About the Distribution?

Q: Are you in contact with publishers/players to have localized versions of your games in other languages, such as French, Italian or Spanish?

A: No, not yet, but our plan is to establish closer relations with foreign publishers. Since we’re still new at world board game scene, we would appreciate other people’s recommendations on particular distributors or publishers in certain countries.

Q: What’s the latest status on U.S. distribution of CGE games?

A: The status still remains that we will be able to give more detailed information after Spiel 07. On the other hand, we already know that our games will be available from certain retailers right after Essen since some of them already contacted us in such matter and some others probably will at the event itself. We did some research and contacted some of them as well, but the full list of retailers will be posted at our website after Spiel, hopefully just few days after it.

Q: What made you want to become a game publisher?

A: After huge success with the award winning Through the Ages, we realized that the potential of Czech game authors is decent enough and we would be able to create top notch games, but producing them at a professional level needs more than just a lot of enthusiasm. After complaints about component quality (card quality to mention one), we realized we need to professionalize to play the game. So we decided to establish regular company. Now, when we see our new babies Galaxy Trucker and League of Six, we realize it was worth it, but we are still not fully satisfied as we can see some room for improvement. —Petr Murmak

League of Six has fantastic rules. Content / translation, graphics, type, color, layout, all excellent!

Both Galaxy Trucker and League of Six are great games, but in completely different ways. Galaxy Trucker has the best rule book I have seen in a long time, not to mention the funniest. Many other publishers could take a lesson from it.
