Ask Days of Wonder: Lore of Yore?

Q: With all the recent announcements about Memoir ‘44 and its Air Pack, does this mean you are abandoning Battlelore? (Kidding!) Seriously, any chance you would release a Medieval Lore deck, with only the Lore cards described in the 100 Years War expansion. They could also have the Lore Costs all printed 3 more than the usual costs. That would make it easier to switch back and forth between “regular” Battlelore and Medieval Battlelore.

A: At this stage, still very early into the game’s life, it’s unlikely. We simply have too many other, more pressing subjects we want to tackle, as our fervent players are eager to remind us ;-) Heroes, Creatures, Background, will all take precedence…

Q: Days of Wonder doesn’t have a program for supporting events and torunaments with special goodies or gadgets. Is that going to change or is DoW not interested in specifically supporting tournaments and events?

A: Actually we do have a program and support many events; these can be found in the constantly updated Events section on the front page of our web site. And we do provide goodies for these events—participants have been known to win some Memoir ‘44 pins, some BattleLore Earth Elementals, etc.—but these programs are indeed not formalized in the same way that a WotC or Wizkids organized play might be, at least not yet. —Eric Hautemont

I’m a little disappointed that DoW doesn’t feel that a “Medieval Lore” deck isn’t a worthwhile endeavor.  It wouldn’t be a very large deck and they have the graphics already prepped with the printers.  They would only need to change the values of the cards.

I think it would have been a nice gesture.

Todd, reread the answer: “At this stage...it’s unlikely.” DoW doesn’t seem to be writing off the Medieval Lore deck completely—it just has a different focus for the immediate future.

Oh, I know what you are saying.  The quote above just sounds so....final.  The card deck to me seems like it could be a quick print item.  Little prep involved, print it and get it to the stores.

Though, it is probably more involved than that.
