Ask Days of Wonder: Online Play = Offline Pay?
Q: How do you think the online gaming community affects the selling or reception of your products?
A: The online community is a big influence on how products are received. The web makes it easy for information to flow quickly and sites like BGG, BGN, and even the various gaming podcasts really do a great job of getting the word out on new games, not just to the devoted gamers, but to more casual players as well.
Q: Have you experienced an increase in sales due to your games being available to be played online on your website?
A: We’ve always believed that the more people who have a chance to play our games, the more will buy them. Our online games were designed from the start to help teach new players how to play, as well as give experienced players a forum to play against others from around the world. We’ve exposed hundreds of thousands of new players to Days of Wonder games through our online versions and it’s pretty clear that it has motivated many of those to purchase physical copies of the games.
So you can expect us to continue and increase our development efforts in that arena too; our current focus is on bringing Memoir ‘44 to a computer screen near you!

I find myself playing more of the online games for a quick game or two, and really enjoy being able to play any time of day. Posted by Sterling Babcock on Sep 17, 2007 at 03:19 PM | #
