Ask Jay: New Feature on Boardgame News
In an effort to have more direct participation from some figures in the game industry, Boardgame News is starting a new feature called “Ask Jay,” the Jay in question being Jay Tummelson of Rio Grande Games. You, the readers of BGN, can submit questions about upcoming Rio Grande titles, current releases, games you want to see, and so on. Roughly once a week, we’ll present a sampling of these questions to Jay, then compile the answers in a Q&A format.
If you have a BGN account—for which registration is free—you can submit questions as comments on this thread. To keep your questions private, not to mention make it easier for yours truly, you can submit questions directly to the BGN editor.

This is a great idea! Now I don’t have to bug Jay so much via email… Posted by Mike Marshall on Mar 16, 2007 at 02:36 PM | #

Mike, this was partly the idea. Jay answers a bunch of questions on the Geek, but I know that I have a hard time tracking down every bit of news from him, so others surely feel the same way. Posted by W. Eric Martin on Mar 16, 2007 at 02:40 PM | #

I am curious if there will be a replacement plan for the mis-printed cards from the first run of El Grande Decennial. Posted by Mark Wilder on Mar 16, 2007 at 03:10 PM | #

Jay, Der Markt von Alturien....first in a series of 4 Kramer games (I believe) has not been picked up by a US publisher (it seems). Will you pick up this ProLudo release? Thanks. Posted by Robert Zurfluh on Mar 18, 2007 at 08:57 PM | #

Eric, This is a great idea, and I am really interested to see what other folks are wanting to ask. Thanks for arranging this! Jay, First of all, thanks for all of the work that you have done to bring designer games to the United States (and the English-speaking part of the world). Without you, the hobby would be much smaller (but our German would be better (out of necessity!). Thank you for being willing to take the time to answer our questions. Are there any plans to bring the Verflixxt! expansions (both the Pit freebie from Essen 2005 and Verflixxt Nochmal!) out in an English language edition? Reprints: I may be alone in this, but I would love to see a reprints of Money!, Web of Power, Mississippi Queen/Black Rose and San Marco. Is there any possibility of seeing any of these in the future? Even though I am interested in the others more, I think it is a shame for a SdJ winner to be out of print. Finally, will the Rio Grande edition of Caylus Magna Carta have the cards from the upcoming Spielbox issue or will there be an easier way to get the cards (than us ordering the magazine from Germany)? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on these questions, David Posted by David Reed on Mar 19, 2007 at 09:34 AM | #

David, I can answer one of these questions now as I posted about it earlier on BGN. The Caylus Magna Carta insert in Spielbox, which consists of one card, will be included in the first Rio Grande print run of CMC. Jay has said that if he does a second print run later, he’ll try to find a way to get more copies of the insert to include in the game. Posted by W. Eric Martin on Mar 19, 2007 at 11:30 AM | #

I’ll probably still be picking up the Spielbox issue (for the Age of Steam map), but it is good to know that I’m covered on Caylus Magna Carta. Thanks for the update, Eric - I saw that one card was going to be included, but had gotten the impression that Spielbox was going to have more than one card in it… Posted by David Reed on Mar 19, 2007 at 11:53 AM | #
