Ask Jay: No Go Godzilla for Manhattan

Rio Grande’s Jay Tummelson answers a few questions about newly released and upcoming games and reveals one secret about his fantastic customer service:

Q: You have a reputation for great customer service. How do you manage to have spare bits of so many games? Do you have an open copy of each game and remove the bits you need, opening a new one whenever you need one not in the open copy? Are they in New Mexico or at your warehouse?

A: I open copies of games as needed to send replacements. All of them are in NM.

Newly released games
Q: Which new RGG titles went over the best with players at the World Boardgaming Championships this past week?

A: If Wishes were Fishes, Thebes, Caylus Magna Carta, and Phoenicia.

Q: Is Phoenicia still expected by the end of August?

A: It shipped to my customers last week.

Editor’s note: Alliance Distributors received copies August 7, so they should be in stores in a week or so.

On the Horizon
Q: In the new version of Manhattan that’s coming out soon, will there be a token for the Godzilla character used in the much-played game variant?

A: I have tried to find one, but was unsuccessful.

Q: I gather there are no expansions for Travel Carcassonne. Does that mean it does not include the river?

A: It does not include the river and there are no expansions yet.

Q: Can you tell us any more about the Ra dice game? Do the dice have “tiles” on their faces?

A: The dice do have “tiles” on their faces, and players use them to collect the sets instead of the auction mechanism.

Q: Can you tell us anything about the new Carcassonne expansion, Abbey and Mayor? Will it be a mini-expansion? New meeples?

A: It is a normal sized expansion, similar to Inns & Cathedrals.

Editor’s note: Hans im Glück has released no info about this new Carc expansion. We’re still too far away from Spiel at this point...
