Ask Z-Man Games: What About ________?
Q: Any plans of picking up the new Kosmos Ubongo Extrem that’s due out at Spiel 07? As a Ubongo fan, I will get this, but I’d like to buy it in the States rather than getting an import.
A: I’ve got an email to Kosmos about it. I thought it was going to be a small expansion, so I didn’t pursue it, but then I saw it might be a completely new game.
Q: Are you working with any of the Japanese designers for some new games to be released through Z-man?
A: I do have Traders of Carthage set for 2008 but have not started design on it. I need to playtest another game by Game Republic (the original publisher of Owner’s Choice). Susumu Kawasaki seems to getting pretty prolific, and I think there will be several of his designs I need to test, but I’m not actively working with anyone, nor have I any game I’m earnestly pursuing. Anyone have ideas on what I should be looking for?
Q: Do you plan to do another print run of Attribute before Christmas? Do you plan to release Attribut 2 in English at some point?
A: No to the first, and possibly yes to the second—but if I do Attribute 2 it will be when I reprint the original Attribute and put it all in one box (if I’m allowed to do it).
Q: Do you have any plans to reprint some of your popular out-of-print games?
A: Only one out of print game is being reprinted and that is Ideology—and it will be more than a reprint. It will be graphically enhanced, the components will be better, and we will add additional optional rules and variants. Any other out of print game I have is not going to be reprinted at this point. —Zev Shlasinger

Zev, Please consider a domestic release of thePolish game, Neuroshima Hex. Phantom Rummy and Saga are two other Yuhodo titles. Posted by Jonathan Franklin on Oct 5, 2007 at 05:14 PM | #

I am meeting the Neuroshima Hex people at Essen -we’ll see what happens. As for the Yuhodo titles, Saga is something I am interested in but I did not like Phantom Rummy. I’m sure I will have much news after Essen. (Maybe not all of it good :) Posted by Zev Shlasinger on Oct 5, 2007 at 09:35 PM | #
