Atlantis Expansion Coming for Conquest of Pangea
Immortal Eyes Games is producing an Atlantis expansion for Conquest of Pangea, but the expansion won’t be available for sale. Instead, the company is giving it away to retailers and anyone at Origins or Gen Con who plays in a Pangea tournament, purchases the game, or is one of the first 20 IEG booth visitors each morning. Anyone not falling into these categories will be able to order it from the IEG website for a shipping and handling charge.
So what’s in the expansion anyway? Joe Sequino of Immortal Eyes passed along these details:
| The expansion includes a new Atlantis Continent with pre-printed Hot Springs Terrain with a value of 7. Atlantis comes into play after the first continent breaks apart. Atlantis attaches to the broken away continent..so it’s different each time. It makes Ocean Voyages and Rafts very important. There’s a new Yellow Power card of Foresight which protects against the Mini Ice Age and the Asteroid Impact.....but in order to get the Yellow Power Card you must dominate three of the Hot Springs...unlike the rest of the game which requires dominance in only two areas to get the corresponding Yellow Power.
We refined the set-up rule so players will always place markers even if they draw a 0 terrain. They place the 0 as per normal and then take another turn to place another piece. We want the players to start with as level a playing field as possible. We also refined the battle rules, too, so the dominant player in a limit stack can battle a lesser player in the stack. For example, if I have five pieces in the Lake terrain and you have one, I can now battle you to get you out of there. |
The changes to the set-up will be welcomed by players who saw themselves shortchanged in the set-up phase, which is one of the drawbacks I noted in my review of Conquest of Pangea.
