Axiom to Reappear, Blow Minds at Spiel 08
Michael Seal’s mindbending abstract game Axiom is finally set to appear in a new edition, dubbed Axiom 3000 or Magnetic Axiom. “Axiom will be available in stores in Q3 2008,” says Seal. “We will be at the Essen games fair in October.”

While the look of the game will differ from the 1988 original (see the sketch above) – and magnets will hold the pieces in place rather than friction – the object of the game remains the same: Move one of your sceptres onto a cube occupied by an opponent’s piece. At first glance the game appears to be a straightforward abstract, but once the sceptres start sliding around every edge and the cube structure deconstructs and vanishes during game play, you realize just how unique, bizarre and intriguing this game is. If you’re not familiar with the game play, the illustrated rules for Axiom are available on Seal’s Lumicube website.
