Bang, 4th Edition – More Details
DaVinci Games has announced a few changes for the fourth edition of Emiliano Sciarra’s Bang!, starting with a new, exclusive distribution partner in North America, Alliance Game Distributors.
As for the game itself, it will be packaged in a larger box with seven playing mats, each with its own illustration from Bang! artists Alessandro Pierangelini, Stefano De Fazi and Toni Cittadini. The mats help emphasize for new players that they can hold only one weapon at a time, and players now track their life totals with bullet tokens placed on the mats instead of aligning two cards to reveal the proper total.

Bang! 4th Edition is due out in Q4 2008 in North America.

Strange...the first Bang! release I don’t feel inclined to pick up. Counters? Player mats? Now, that’s really unnecessary… (This coming from someone who bought the supposi...er, Bullet.) Posted by William Bussick on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:54 AM | #

I’m interested. I hope they print a version in English instead of with the subtitles. Posted by Rob Cannon on Oct 5, 2008 at 08:54 AM | #

Rob, the 4th edition of Bang! will be in both Italian and English, with the text on special cards like Dynamite and Indians written out so that you no longer have to turn to the rules. Given the lower costs that result from multi-language print runs, I’m not surprised to see this pattern continued. Another change is that one of the horses has become a Scope, both to avoid confusion between which horse does what action and to prevent mental images of a cowboy trying to straddle two horses at once. William, the bullet tokens should let people see life totals across the table more easily, in addition to eliminating moments when you hit the cards and have to reconstruct how many life points you had. Again, I think the changes are meant to make the game easier for new players, and mileage for gamers will vary. Eric Posted by W. Eric Martin on Oct 6, 2008 at 09:42 AM | #

Well it’s good that they details of some of those cards are on the cards and not in the rule book. But I wish this were fully English. While I don’t mind past-ups and multiple languages on my games, Bang! is the kind of game that I could get non-gamers interested in. But once they see the cards, they get skittish. But it does look much nicer. Posted by Rob Cannon on Oct 6, 2008 at 05:51 PM | #
