BGN Game Giveaway Winners for July 2007

After a long and exhaustive process that involved me forgetting to draw the winners for a few weeks, I’m pleased to announce that the following lucky individuals have won games on Boardgame News:

  • Trond Meistad - Neuroshima HEX!

A fast-playing abstracty war-type game from Poland. Each of the four armies has different strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to set up combinations a la Magic: The Gathering—or get destroyed by an opponent who catches on quicker than you do. To get a better idea of how it plays, read Frank Branham’s review on BGN.

  • Christopher Dearlove - HeroCard Orc Wars
  • Ignacy Trzewiczek - HeroCard Orc Wars

The latest take on the HeroCard series puts two players in an asymmetric battle, with elves versus orcs. Who has the upper hand? Well, who has their name in the title?

  • Greg Fleischman - High Voltage

Players own power stations and need to get them connected! A game from Gianfranco Sartoretti and Post Scriptum.

  • Chris Brooks - Ca$h’n Gun$

Resevoir Dogs, the boardgame, with the gangster-players trying to divvy up stolen loot in an equitable manner that involves a lot of gun pointing and outright threats. Don’t play this at the airport.

  • John B. Morgan - Get Bit!

A crazy fun game from Robot Martini that has you trying to push past your fellow swimmers to stay ahead of a shark’s pointy teeth. If you’re at the end of the line, your plastic figure loses a limb; lose ‘em all and you sink beneath the waves. The last one still swimming wins! I published a preview of Get Bit! in July.

  • Geoff Tattersfield - Galactic Expanse Starship Battles

As you might guess from the title, a space battle game. The description of the game on the Lost Battalion website sounds interesting, and perhaps Geoff will clue us in once he receives it. This game was actually in the May giveaway, but the first two winners aren’t fans of space games and passed. Geoff took a while to respond, but respond he finally did.

The winners of the monthly game giveaway are chosen randomly from among all BGN Members. To sign up, visit the registration page and click on the “subscribe” button to submit your $25 annual payment. You’ll have a chance to win free games and receive access to the lengthy previews for the Nuremberg and Essen game conventions, not to mention my eternal thanks.

This was obviously a fix since I am not among the winners. Boo!

Seriously, congrats to the winners!
