Boardgames Australia: Promoting Games and a New Game Award

Boardgames Australia is attempting to do what few other game organizations could: Promote games across an entire continent. The BGA website tells visitors where they can play and buy games, and it suggests games for those just entering the world of strategy games. There’s even a special section for games that include sheep, including one native creation.

Boardgames Australia will also launch three game awards in 2008: best international game, best Australian game, and best children’s game. The judging panel for the awards, as well as those behind BGA, includes Richard Vickery, Fraser McHarg, Giles Pritchard, Melissa Rogerson, and occasional BGN writer Patrick Brennan.

Makes me want to design a game about sheep ranchers and utilize a Tragedy of the Commons mechanism.
