Brass, Money!, High Society, Attack! Deluxe - Coming from FRED Distribution
FRED Distribution has passed on information about games both previously released and upcoming. Here are the details:
- Both Through the Ages and Rails of Europe are sold out, and new printings are scheduled for both games. The next printing of Through the Ages will have a number of small fixes and heavier card stock. New printings will ideally be available in summer or fall 2008.
- More Rails of... titles are in the queue, with Rails of the UK being one such expansion. FRED plans to release one Rails of... expansion before the end of 2008, and Martin Wallace is now at work on an expansion for 2009.
- Brass, co-published with Warfrog, has also sold out (at least in North America), and FRED will be reprinting this game as well. Designer Martin Wallace is editing the rules for clarity, and the new printing will include player mats and a quick start reference sheet.
- Two Reiner Knizia games, Money! and High Society will be the first two titles of a new imprint for FRED called Gryphon Games. Family-friendly titles will bear the Gryphon tag, while more strategy intense games will have the Eagle Games logo. Money! should be out in the summer, with High Society – with new turn-of-the-20th century artwork by Paul Niemeyer – is expected in the fall. Attacke, another Knizia title, will probably appear in 2009.
- Attack! Deluxe, combining the original base game with the expansion – along with new cards, new naval dice, and more than a thousand bits – is undergoing final playtesting now and is expected out in the summer of 2008. The revised game will retail for $50. For details on changes, check out this BoardGameGeek thread by Sean Brown, FRED employee and overseer of the new edition.

I was wondering if FRED was planning on any adjustments/replacements for those of us who bought Through the Ages and have boards that are warped badly and the cards that are almost as bad. (not to mention the little rolling bits that I have replaced with 10mm cubes).. I have been gaming for some 40 years and the physical quality of this game is simply the worst I own (and I have over 800 games).. JimA Posted by Jim Allard on Mar 24, 2008 at 05:31 PM | #

Keith Blume has said that FRED is still working on the exact nature of the fixes to TtA as well as a replacement plan for parts. I’ll announce details once the plans are in place. Eric Posted by W. Eric Martin on Mar 24, 2008 at 05:33 PM | #

Which Attacke? The precursor to Ivanhoe, or the one that’s closer to Risk? Posted by Matt Fullenwider on Mar 25, 2008 at 12:15 AM | #

Hi Jim, Send me an e-mail at and I will get you on the fix pack list. Hi Matt, Attack Deluxe is the remaking of the Eagle game (closer to risk) and Attacke is the Ivanhoe pre-cursor (so the answer is both). Keith Posted by Keith Blume II on Mar 25, 2008 at 12:26 AM | #

Too bad. I was hoping it was this Attacke: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1704. Oh well. Posted by Matt Fullenwider on Mar 25, 2008 at 03:06 AM | #

The Risk-like Attacke is not actually designed by Knizia as far as I am aware - the BGG entry was in error due to the confusion of game names. Posted by Dan Blum on Mar 25, 2008 at 08:51 AM | #
