Buy a Game, Create a Soccer Star?

ST Games has developed an innovative marketing approach for its Soccer Tactics WORLD: a sponsorship program for nine-year-old Gianni Patino.

Patino, a resident of Vancouver, BC, recently won a place on FC Barcelona’s youth team, and as the ST Games website notes, “Sales of Soccer Tactics WORLD will help support Gianni’s dream of one day playing professional soccer.” The “Gianni” edition of the game will be released in September 2008 and include a special card of the kicking kid. I’m amused by the notion of “helping Gianni’s dream of playing” rather than just helping him to play, but let’s just say this is a kick in the right direction.
