I have long been fascinated about the idea of a game based on what I’d call the General Managers problem:  building a team in a given sport, with an emphasis on the temporal aspect.  Rookies mature, but veterans age, so do you build for the future, make a push to win this season, or try to do both?  I’ve checked out a few attempts at such games and tried to design a couple myself.  So I’m very interested in what van Moorsel is trying to do here.  Basketball is the obvious sport to use, since the number of players is so small.  I hope he also takes different aspects of play into account (like shooting, rebounding, passing, and defense), but even if players just have a single rating, I’ll be anxious to see if he’s pulled this off.  If it’s close to the level of StreetSoccer, I’ll be very happy!

As I’m not in sports general and more so in Basketball, what the hell means “Alley-Oop”?! Can someone tell me please? The Gameplay sounds interesting, btw ...

Christian, an “alley-oop” is a basketball play in which a player on one team throws the ball toward the basket, often in a high arc, and another player on that team grabs the ball out of the air and dunks it. It’s a complicated, showboaty pass, but it looks crazy cool when you see it.

Thanks, Eric! Hopefully the gameplay is crazy cool, too! ;-)

Cheers, Christian

(Sigh) And I was hoping Alley-Oop would be about a time traveling cave man!
