Convention Preview News: The New Big Boss - Coming from Pro Ludo at Essen
Wolfgang Kramer’s Big Boss, one of modern gaming’s holy grails, is returning to print—but in a new form with some new elements, such as bridges. The title of this new, old game will be Die Hauptstadt von Alturien, and it will be the second title in Pro Ludo’s Alturien series, the first title of which—Der Markt von Alturien, a remake of Kramer’s City—was published in March 2007. Die Hauptstadt von Alturien will be released at Spiel 2007. No word yet on whether the bits will be as chunky and cool as before.

Pro Ludo is really doing great stuff lately! Posted by Surya Van Lierde on Mar 22, 2007 at 09:57 AM | #

Hum, I guess I’m going to have to wait and see what they did with this. I really liked the Big Boss game and theme. I hope they didn’t diverge from either one too far. Will wait and see. Posted by Michael Chapel on Mar 22, 2007 at 10:10 AM | #

Any word on English languages versions? Or will the these new versions be multilingual? Posted by Ed Rozmiarek on Mar 22, 2007 at 10:49 AM | #

They are not multilingual. So I will not buy the German version, which is just about to hit the stores (I think) in Germany. I am sure a US publisher will pick it up, just hope it’s not going to be too long for it to make it to the States Posted by Robert Zurfluh on Mar 22, 2007 at 10:56 AM | #

They are in German, and at least “Die Markt” has German on the cards Posted by Surya Van Lierde on Mar 22, 2007 at 11:03 AM | #

That’s slightly odd. The original Big Boss didn’t have MUCH German on the cards. And the original version of City doesn’t have cards. Posted by Frank Branham on Mar 22, 2007 at 02:58 PM | #

Hi folks, the english Version will be done by Mayfair. All changes done in Markt and Big Boss are done by the author Wolfgang Kramer and not Pro Ludo. Posted by Pat Braun on Mar 23, 2007 at 08:51 AM | #

Ok, this is getting little confusing: “A pic of the cards: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/194074” This is a pic of “Der Markt von ALTURIEN” which is NOT the reprint for Big Boss. “Die Hauptstadt von Alturien” is the Big Boss reprint. So are BOTH these games being released by Mayfair, and are both being released at the same time? Are they two separate games? “All changes done in Markt and Big Boss are done by the author Wolfgang Kramer and not Pro Ludo.” And why would “Markt” need changes? Is it also a reprint of something else? Posted by Michael Chapel on Mar 23, 2007 at 09:09 AM | #

Hi Michael, “Der Markt von Alturien” and “Die Hauptstadt von Alturien” are two standalone games implemented in the World of Alturien. Both games are reprint with changes and further developments of Wolfgang Kramer. There will be two or three more games in the future in the world of Alturien from other Authors.
