Cuba Wins 2008 Nederlandse Spellenprijs
Michael Rieneck and Stefan Stadler’s Cuba, published in the Netherlands by The Game Master, has won the 2008 Nederlandse Spellenprijs, the Dutch game of the year award. Sébastien Pauchon’s Yspahan (QWG Games) ran a close second, with Burger’s Zoo – the Dutch version of Michael Schacht’s Zooloretto – in third.
The awarding of the Nederlandse Spellenprijs takes place in two steps, with a jury nominating a small number of games, followed by Dutch and Belgian gamers voting on their favorites. You can see a breakdown of the voting on Spellenprijs.nl. Congrats to Rieneck and Stadler for following up last year’s nomination of The Pillars of the Earth with a victory in 2008!

While it isn’t a very original game, I think it’s absolutely very solid, and not a bad pick for the award! Posted by Surya Van Lierde on Oct 7, 2008 at 03:22 AM | #
