Details on the New Formula Dé

Eric Randall, codesigner of Formula Dé, has posted information about the new edition due out in the summer of 2008 on FormulaDeNextGeneration.com.

This edition will be published by Play Machines (which is NOT at PlayMachines.com!) in association with several partners, both game publishers Asmodée and Cromola and race-related companies. Online play will be available, along with organized online competitions.

A draft of the cover of the new edition

The game will include a circuit of Monaco as well as a new circuit, along with 20 cars: five pairs with identical characteristics and five pairs with different characteristics (brakes, engine, etc.) In addition the base game, add-ons will be sold in five separate lines, including ones for circuits, cars, and buildings elements such as spectator stands and control towers.

I hope that the site you linked ends up in English, too… This would be a good candidate for online play!

Assuming this is sold in the USA and at a reasonable price, I think I’m on the verge of becoming a Formula Dé collector.

I read this too.  Between the idea to sell buildings and stands, and looking at the new “artwork”, I thought “this almost seems like a joke”.  Unfortunately it seems that they are serious.

I think they’d do much better to just reprint the original.
