Deutscher Spiele Preis Voting Now Open
The voting for the Deutscher Spiele Preis (German Game Prize) is now open. The Deutscher Spiele Preis (DSP) is one of the two major game awards in Germany, the other being the Spiel des Jahres (SdJ). Whereas the SdJ is voted on by a jury, the DSP is voted on by a number of groups, including a popular vote. Also, the SdJ tends to award family games whereas the DSP usually awards gamer games.
To vote, go to the Deutscher Spiele Preis website and click ‘Abstimmung’ on the left hand side. The big warning on the page informs you that you will get an email that will be used to confirm your vote - you must click the link in the email to conform your vote. Click the ‘Hier geht’s zum Abstimmformular’ link to continue.
Under ‘Die besten Familien- und Erwachsenenspiele 2005/2006 sind aus meiner Sicht:’ enter your top five Adult or Family games. Under ‘Das beste Kinderspiel 2005/2006 ist aus meiner Sicht:’ enter your top Children’s game. Enter the name of the game under ‘Titel’ and the publisher of the game under ‘Verlag’. Note that you need to use the German name of the game, if there are other language editions. You don’t have to enter all five games in the Adult or Family Category and you don’t have to have an entry in the Children’s category. Eligible games include those presented at the last Essen and Nuremburg fairs.
Your vote may not count if you don’t fill out all of the personal information requested at the bottom (they do specifically ask that ALL fields be filled)…
To that end:
Vorname = First Name
Nachname = Last Name
Strasse = Street Address
PLZ = Postal Code / Zip
Ort = City/Town (add your Province / State here too)
Land = Country (see below)
Telefon = Telephone
E-Mail-Adresse = Email Address
I think Land would usually mean which part of Germany you’re in (e.g. Saxony, etc) but those of us from overseas can use our Country. When you are finished, click ‘absenden’.
The deadline for voting is July 31, 2006.

Does anyone know what the end publication date is for a game to be eligible for the DSP? I’m particularly curious if Augsburg 1520 will be eligible. Posted by Larry Levy on May 2, 2006 at 02:05 PM | #

I suppose it’s eligible, because it was shown at the Nuremberg Fair this year.
