Diplomacy Returning in a New Edition by Spring 2008
A new edition of Diplomacy will be part of the Avalon Hill line-up for 2008. Details on the game will be available before the end of January, according to a publisher representative. Until then, you’ll just have this to speculate upon:

I’m glad they’ve done away with the old box template wit the 2 thick bars on top and right. It was very recognisable, and also very ugly. The logo seems to be more reminiscent of the original AH logo, maybe they intend to go back more in that direction with their selection of games? I’ll tell you what. The Hasbro Avalon Hill makes some of the most inviting box covers I have seen. Maybe even better than Days of Wonder… but probably just tied. Nevertheless, they are very good. And I really second Matt’s suggestion. Diplomacy and Acquire are two games that AH should always maintain in print. Both are excellent games. This new box cover for Diplomacy is so inviting, I may even try it out in my “mainstream” game collection. (I have two collections: my mainstream collection where I will bring the game out for anyone: 27 games… and my “just the guys” games that I bring out for close guy friends that can handle a deeper game: 6 games.) Those six games:
