Edwin Wong: MALAYSIA Settlers Qualifiers Kicks-Off!
The first of 6 Settlers of Catan qualifers in Malaysia got off to a great start on Saturday, 10 June…
Games Circle, host for the first qualifiers, saw a full house of 16 players vie for 4 seats in the Malaysian finals on 29 July. Unfortunately, a few late comers had to be tunred away as the swiss-format tournament got underway at 2.30pm sharp.
Each player played 4 games, changing tables according to their position, after each game. With 10 points awarded for the winner, 5 points for the runner-up and 2 points for 3rd placing, the stress began to mount shortly after the first game!
After more than 5 hours of intense gaming, the final ranking was:

With Settlers fever in the air now, many are rushing to sign-up for the next five qualifiers:

32 participants are expected for the next qualifer at Toybox, which will run a knock-out format.
