GameTable Online Picks Up Online Games from Wizards

GameTable Online, which already features online versions of Euphrat & Tigris, Igel Argern and Nuclear War, will add five games previously available online through Wizards of the Coast’s Gleemax website. The games – Robo Rally, Acquire, Axis & Allies, Vegas Showdown and Guillotine – will all be available for free.

It’s no surprise that GTO took on the job of hosting these games given that Wizards of the Coast had hired GTO to develop them in the first place. As Randy Buehler, vice president of digital gaming for WotC noted in the press release, “GameTable Online did a terrific job of creating online versions of our games. With GTO’s recent switch from a subscription model to free play (funded via advertising sales), this became a great way to let our fans continue to play our games online, for free and whenever they want.”

GTO plans to make a number of its online games available on Facebook at some point in the future.

I had been wondering what was going to happen to these games. Cool that they’re not lost!

The facebook application is a good one. I assume it would allow for more of a play-by-email feel instead of realtime, which can be a good thing.
