Gaming in Switzerland: Drop By for a Few Games

The Musée Suisse du Jeu (Swiss Museum of Games) is holding a reception on Saturday, November 17 at 16:00 in honor of four new titles from Swiss designers this year:

  • Moai, from Adrian Dinu and Face 2 Face Games
  • Jamaica, from Malcolm Braff, Bruno Cathala, Sébastien Pauchon and their GameWorks Sàrl
  • Mr. Jack Extension, from Bruno Cathala, Ludovic Maublanc and Hurrican Games
  • Geisterjäger, from the three brothers Frei and HABA
Says Pauchon, “I know it’s kind of faaaar for most of you, but hey, who knows, you might be visiting Switzerland right next weekend.”

Game design from yet another corner of the world (although I believe that Urs Hostetler, well known for his creation of Tichu, Kremlin, and other games, is Swiss).  We keep finding new hotbeds of gaming.  I think it’s great.  And the fact that Switzerland has its own Museum of Games makes me intensely jealous!

I highly recommend a visit there.  The museum is an old castle on the banks of Lake Geneva with a gorgeous view of the snow-capped Alps on the other side.  It’s in Vevey, Sebastien Pauschon’s hometown, and he organizes an annual Swiss Game Designer’s Meeting similar to the one in Goettingen, Germany.

And yes, Urs Hostetler is also Swiss--it was actually outside his fabulous game store in Bern that Sebastien and I first met.
