Ghost Stories – Preorders Open for Spiel 08

Repos Production has posted a Ghost Stories webpage that includes multiple component shots, rules in English, wallpaper images, and a preorder page. Most importantly, Repos notes that the company is releasing 750 copies of the game at Spiel 08 with an extra village tile and five “surprising” ghost cards – as if the regular ghosts aren’t surprising enough. The regular game without the extras will be available in stores after Spiel. To preorder, write to gs@rprod.com and let them know.

Darn them and their special spiffy neat-o things for games I desperately must have :)

Do these extras help sell the game?  I wonder how much they help vs how much they hurt.

I’m often less inclined to buy a game if I know that I missed out on part of it.

By “surprising” they mean “extra”.

I sent an email to Repos, asking if they were willing to ship copies of the game with the extra pieces they’re offering at Spiel 08 (offering to pay for the shipping, of course). The response is that they are not going to ship it. I don’t suppose that there’s someone who will be attending Spiel that would be willing to pick up a copy and send it to the US, is there?

One of these days, I hope to see a company offer a BGG.Con-only special edition of a game… Strike that - I want to see the same editions of games available to everyone everywhere. I’ve managed to luck out on some of these Essen offers in the past (thanks to Jay Tummelson bringing back some copies of the Caylus Premium Limited Edition, I am lucky enough to have it in my collection). I’ve also missed out on a lot of them. I know that some of the ones that I would really enjoy having are probably never going to be available in the US and my job means that I’m very unlikely to ever make it to Spiel. Oh, well…
