Glenn’s Gallery, Coming from Mayfair Games
Glenn’s Gallery is a new title from Reiner Knizia that’s coming from Mayfair Games in late January or early February 2009. Players are employees at an art gallery and are charged with keeping the owner up-to-date on which style of artwork is most in demand by gallery customers. You’d think tracking the receipts would give you enough info to go on – Rothko, Kandinsky, Pollock, looks like abstract expressionism is in again! – but perhaps sampling those who aren’t opening their wallets gives you a broader perspective on the market.
While you’re surveying customers as to their tastes, however, you need to be wary of the art students, those poseurs who lack the money to buy art and who will drive away legitimate customers with their showy know-it-allness. At the end of each month, Glenn the gallery owner rewards or punishes players based on how accurate their predictions match the existing market. In the end, the player who performs the best wins.
Those who are well-versed in Knizia might recognize that Glenn’s Gallery is a new version of Members Only, which the German publisher Blatz released in 1996. The game has not previously appeared in English.
Glenn’s Gallery is for 3-5 players, ages 10 and up with a playing time of 60-70 minutes and a retail price of $35. This game has been added to Gone Cardboard.

I hope this isn’t the final box art, because imo it’s one of the worst pieces of work coming from a major publisher, in recent years Posted by Surya Van Lierde on Dec 2, 2008 at 07:54 AM | #

The picture is funny. But all the rest, that green-red part is really ugly. Posted by Laszlo Molnar on Dec 2, 2008 at 09:44 AM | #
