God’s Playground to Be Enlarged in Poland
God’s Playground is a new Martin Wallace title from Treefrog Games due to be released at Spiel 09 in October. As with Wallace’s 2008 release After the Flood, God’s Playground – which covers Polish history from the 1400s to the 1700s – is designed to be a three-player only game. Unlike After the Flood, however, God’s Playground will be released in a special edition within the country where the action takes place. (To be fair, AtF‘s Sumer ceased to exist roughly four thousand years ago, and no time travellers from that era are fans of modern board games.)
Boze Igrzysko – Polish for “God’s Playground” – will be released by Phalanx Games Polska in November or December 2009 with revised rules that allow four players to play in addition to three. According to Phalanx’ Michael Ozon, Boze Igrzysko has minor changes to the map values and set-up of the game, and Wallace has approved this design. The game will have newly designed graphics, including the gameboard and pieces, but the game will be released only in Poland with Polish rules.
