Gone Cardboard: Dice Town, Coming from Asmodee

Asmodee Editions will release Dice Town – a Bruno Cathala/Ludovic Maublanc design already available in Europe through Editions du Matagot – in North America in April 2009. Here’s a description of the game from the BGN Nuremberg 2009 preview:

In Dice Town, turns are divided into two phases: rolling the dice, and resolving the results. In the first phase, you roll five dice five times, saving exactly one die each time, unless you pay the bank to keep more or fewer than you should.

Dice combinations can then be placed in five places, each with a unique action. You can visit the mine to find nuggets, the bank to get money, the general store for bonuses, the saloon to steal cards, and the jail to become sheriff. The game ends when no more nuggets or title deeds are available, and the player with the most VPs wins.

Designer Bruno Faidutti, who has included the game in his Ideal Game Library, has a few more details in his write-up. Dice Town is for 2-5 players; no word yet on what it will cost in the U.S. This game has been added to Gone Cardboard.
