Gone Cardboard News: Fruit Fair – Now Due in May 2008
Kris Gould’s Fruit Fair from Wattsalpoag Games is headed to the printers and is now a probable May 2008 release. The rules for Fruit Fair are a paragon of cleanliness and utility thanks to the aid provided by one handsome editor; as for the game play, well, I hope to give it a go soon and let you know…

Let me get this straight: the final edit of the rules was done by someone who has not played the game? Posted by Curt Carpenter on Mar 27, 2008 at 02:25 PM | #

I edit for clarity and consistency in the rules presentation: Are the same terms used throughout? Is a term consistently upper- or lower-case? Do the pictured examples match the text? Are sentence constructions parallel? Is punctuation consistent? And so on… At the same time, I ask questions that other newcomers might ask so that I can clarify those sections. Anyone else reading the rules will be in the same situation that I was, that is, having no experience with the game. Ideally my obsessive, detail-oriented nature will make it easier for others to learn the game. Whether Kris used all of my suggestions in the final text is a mystery that will be revealed later. If Kris works like most publishers, he had a number of people review the rules. Eric Posted by W. Eric Martin on Mar 27, 2008 at 02:46 PM | #
