Gone Cardboard News: On the Dot, Tiki Topple & More from Gamewright
Gamewright has announced its 2008 line-up and as usual the games sound like a fun mix of family titles and kids’ games:

On the Dot
An English version of the Cocktail Games title Vitrail, On the Dot has players competing to arrange four transparent sheets to match a target image. Since each sheet can be flipped and rotated, you have a lot of possibilities, but with a little experience your brain starts to see patterns right away. On the Dot (10+, $12.99) is due out March 2008.

Tiki Topple
Two to four players try to find the right combination of action cards to move their tikis to the top of the line. Tiki Topple (10+, $15.99) is due in April 2008.
Go Nuts!
A dice-rolling game with a squirrel theme that has you caching acorns and fleeing dogs. Go Nuts (8+, $6.50) is due in April 2008.
Hang Four
Playwright gave us surfing cows in Cowabunga (a new version of Fettnapf); now Gamewright presents surfing dogs with an equal number of bad puns. Hang Four (8+ $12.99) is a card game in which you want to get as many surfboards as possible, and it’s due in Q2 2008.

Captain Clueless
Players are in teams and try to guide their captain to port since he’s blindfolded and can’t steer without their help. I suppose we need to imagine a hostage situation or else the passengers would just remove the blindfold, no? I believe this is a remake, but I can’t recall the title of the original game. Captain Clueless (8+, $19.99) is due in April 2008.
Hula Hippos
A fast action game in which 2-4 players try to flick their wooden hippos inside a hoop before it stops spinning. I’m going to need a picture to understand this… Hula Hippos (5+, $11.99) is due in April 2008.
These titles, along with King Toad, Pounce! and Boochie will be on display at NY Toy Fair in mid-February, so I’ll give them a close look then.
These games have been added to Gone Cardboard.

My guess for Hula Hippos is that it’s Haba’s “Maus Nach Haus.” Posted by Mark "Fluff Daddy" Jackson on Jan 21, 2008 at 02:39 PM | #
