Gone Cardboard: Pics from Founding Fathers

Jim Dietz at Jolly Rogers Games has sent along a couple of images from the forthcoming Founding Fathers by Jason Matthews and Christian Leonhard. For those not familiar with the game, a short description:

Founding Fathers puts 2-5 players in the role of Madison, Hamilton, Sherman and others involved in the creation of the U.S. Constitution – and while patriotism and love of country are certainly forefront in their mind, your goal is to get the most renown by supporting and passing various articles to the Constitution. Game play is card-driven, with players having a hand of delegates who represent a state, support one particular issue (such as Federalist or anti-Federalist), and have a special ability. Each round, a different issue to the Constitution is considered, and players use delegates to support or oppose the issue – although a delegate can’t vote against the issue that he supports on his card.

The picture above is from an earlier design of the game. The cards below, which show the current design, have been tweaked to include the colonial flags next to the portraits to aid players in sorting the cards.

Founding Fathers is currently available as a preorder from Jolly Roger Games for $45, with the price rising to $50 after Dec. 25, 2009. The final retail price will be $65, and the game is currently scheduled for Q2 2010.

Wow, that looks fantastic. I’m headed to Jolly Roger now to preorder the game!

I was going to preorder the game, but I found on their website that it was $40 in two different descriptions, but $45 when I went into check out. So, I emailed them and asked them if they could change the description to match the actual price and give me it for $40 because the description was misleading. But they wouldn’t… Sure, $5 isn’t a big difference, but it is the principle behind it! :-/
