HABA Wins Best Boardgame at Middle East Toy Fair

Aside from the occasional post from a correspondent in Israel, BGN doesn’t publish much about games in the Middle East, but apparently there’s more going on than meets the eye. A post on Toy-TMA.com notes that HABA’s Auf die Schätze, fertig, los!, which was shown at Nuremberg 2008, won the Best Boardgame award at this year’s Annual Middle East Toy Fair, which was held in Dubai.

Auf die Schätze, fertig, los!, which translates to something like On the Treasure, Ready, Go!, is a game for 2-4 players ages 5 and up by Roberto Fraga in which players have to complete certain memory- or skill-based tasks within a time limit in order to claim treasure. After each successful task, the player can push his luck a la Can’t Stop with the risk of losing everythig if he runs out of time.

I’m curious what relationship this game has to Dschungelschatz, a similar (though not identical) game from the same author & publisher.

Hi, Mark,
Dschungelschatz = De schat van de jungle = Jungle treasure = Le trésor des Mayas = el tesoro de la selva = il tesoro della giungla and Auf die Schätze, fertig, los (A vos trésors, prêts, partez) : it’s similar game with a few changes and news components with a greater box ( http://www.jugamostodos.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=426&Itemid=29)
