Hey! That’s My Fish! Gets Pimped
Hey! That’s My Fish!, designed by Alvydas Jakeliunas and Günter Cornett, is undergoing a penguin transplant, with the flat wood pieces in the standard Mayfair Games/Phalanx edition being replaced with 3D hand-painted resin penguins. For those who don’t know the game, each player controls a pack of penguins; on a turn you move one of your penguins any number of spaces in a straight line, then claim the ice floe on which the penguin started the turn. As the ice disappears, penguins similarly vanish from the board, and whoever grabs the most fish wins.
Based on the concept drawing presented below, the penguins undergo extensive Poochification with the tiles being somewhat larger than in the unpimped version of the game:

Hey! That’s My Fish! Deluxe Edition will retail for $45 and will be released in the U.S. in November 2008. This game has been added to Gone Cardboard.

I like this game, and the deluxe version looks really nice and all, but wow, that’s kind of expensive for the game. I suppose I’m not in the target market for this one, because I’m quite happy with what I have now… Posted by Chris Boothe on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:22 AM | #
