Interview with Mike Doyle on Spiel Portugal
Spiel Portugal has posted an interview with Mike Doyle in both English and Portugese. Here’s a sample:
| Mike Doyle thinks that the general feeling of the industry, consumers included, about changes is very difficult to the ones who, like him, want to make things differently – “almost all board games look alike – they have the same style of illustration and the same formulaic application. Things that fall out of bounds of convention are often flatly rejected. This is not just board games but anything, really.” |

’Almost all packaging on potato chips look alike - they have the same style of illustration and the same formulaic application. Things that fall out of bounds of convention are often flatly rejected. This is not just potato chips but anything, really.’ So? What lesson did we learn? Forget to change the way the market, marketing, AND the consumer work and think Mike, but accept it the way it is and make changes step by step. The way company logos are changed is a multiple step process, for instance. Your view on packaging might be interesting at times, but in reality other laws rule.
