JESS: 22 manzanas in Cocktail Games

22 manzanas (22 apples) by Juan Carlos Pérez, won the second prize in the 2nd. JxJ Game Design Competition 2008.

French publisher Cocktail Games is going to publish this pretty Spanish game, in one of its characteristic tin boxes.

The 22 manzanas prototype was really ready to be published by cocktail Games – it was presented in a little square box.

It is a intelligent game for 2 persons, with very simple rules but strong decisions inside: a worker moves orthogonally in an square apple field. At the end of your movement, you must harvest a tile with a number of apples. There are apples in two colors, and you need exactly 11 green apples and 11 red apples. If you get them, you win, but if in some point of the game it is clear that it will be impossible for you (for example, if you exceed this number), you lost.

The game will be published by Cocktail Games with the sponsor of some apples companies.

Very good news for a conquest which is only two years old. Congratulations to the author, to Oriol comas (director of the conquest) and to Cocktail Games.

¡Nos jugamos!

I’m glad to hear that 22 manzanas is being published. I recall thinking that it sounded like fun when you originally reported on the finalists at JxJ 2008. Congratulations to Juan Carlos Perez!

Wasn’t the winning title a civ-style card game? Is there any word on whether that one will be published?

For the moment, no news about the winner of the conquest, CivCards, by Alberto Corral… Will it be published in the future? The first winner os this award (two years ago), El Mercado de Tlatelolco by Victor Melo, was a wonderful game and it is not published yet.

We’ll see…
