JESS: Heckmeck-WM 2007

The 2nd. Heckmeck-WM, the world championship of Reiner Knizia’s Pickomino, was celebrated in Munich.

We have a new World Champion, June Beckmann.

Since last summer, classificatory tournaments have been celebrated in different countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland… and Spain!

In Spain, there were different tournaments in different game conventions. Between those winners, the Spanish player for the world final in Munich was chosen at random and Antonio Martín was the lucky man. He could be in Munich thanks to Mercurio, the Spanish publisher of Piko Piko el gusanito (the Spanish title of Heckmeck / Pickomino).

The Heckmeck-WM 2007 was located at the Wirtshaus, a typical tavern of Baviera, on Febraury 23th 2008 - Zoch, the original German publisher, was the organizer (I was not there, but thanks to our Spanish player and thanks to Mercurio, I have pictures and I can told you what happened - You can read a longer Spanish report with more pictures here). Food and drink was ready, and many people were happy to throw and throw dice. After playing three rounds, the five best classified persons would play the final match.

The prize table

In the first edition, Dina Estelmann was the Heckmeck-WM Champion 2006 last year, and she was again in the final match. So, she was the biggest favourite again.

But at the end Dina had the third position. The second was Hans Mostböck (from Viena). And the first place, the new Heckmeck World Champion, is June Beckmann, from Buxtehude (Germany), and she was 9 years old.

No doubt, she was very happy.
