Keep On Truckin’ – Galaxy Trucker Expansion for Spiel 08

Czech Games Edition will release an expansion for Galaxy Trucker at Spiel 08 in October that contains “more fun and destruction, but also more control and player to player interaction.” In addition to a printed version of Rough Road Ahead – which was released on CGE’s website in December 2007 – and the bonus cards given to those who preordered Galaxy Trucker for Spiel 07, the expansion will include “new cards, new tiles, bits for a fifth player, and new ships,” says CGE’s Petr Murmak. “It will consist of some quite separate parts which you can play alone with the base game or combine together.”

As for how many components it will contain, Murmak says only “a lot – it will be less than in the basic game, but still more than in many traditional board games. Price will be determined later with our partners.” You can possibly contribute to the expansion by participating in the Rough Road Ahead contest and questionnaire, which runs on the CGE website through June 30.

Speaking of partners, the second edition of Galaxy Trucker is due in July 2008, and Rio Grande remains CGE’s partner in the U.S. Murmak notes, “There could be some differences in Galaxy Trucker in different countries because some partners prefer a lower price, and we tried to find possibility how to get to lower price.” More details on that closer to the release date.

A second edition of League of Six, CGE’s other Spiel 07 release, is due in June, with Heidelberger handling the game in Germany, QWG Games in France and Benelux, Albi for the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, and JKLM for English-speaking countries.
