Klutz’ New Book of Boardgames
Back in the early 1990s, Sid Sackson edited a book of board games for Klutz Press that included many classic abstract strategy games, in addition to a few lesser known ones. The book’s contents were limited to a pair of dice, lots of black and white pieces, and a spiralbound book of gameboards and rules.
Nearly two decades later, Klutz has revisited the book of games with a new editor at the helm, Mark “Fluff Daddy” Jackson, and The 15 Greatest Boardgames in the World has now been published.

That not-so-humble title might cause gamers to roll their eyes, but given the constraints of the publication – having to include all the bits and boards needed for all 15 games while maintaining a compact look – it’s a great set of games. Mark Jackson has detailed his consulting efforts on his blog, including a few games that couldn’t be included and the reasons why. Congrats, Mark, on the fine package, and here’s hoping it introduces people to a few new games!

Just to clarify - I was a consultant on the project along with Wayne Schmittberger (who is the editor of Games Magazine) and our editor was Pat Murphy. Man, I had fun working on this! Posted by Mark "Fluff Daddy" Jackson on Apr 17, 2008 at 04:55 PM | #

Congratulations on getting the book published, Marcus. And what an honor it must have been to work with a veteran writer like Schmittberger. Go Fluff Daddy! Posted by Larry Levy on Apr 17, 2008 at 09:18 PM | #
