Knizia Returns to Zoch with Sushizock im Gockelwok

Reiner Knizia has a new dice game out from German publisher Zoch called Sushizock im Gockelwok. Whereas players competed for fried worms in Knizia’s Pickomino, this time you’re fighting for food that is actually edible: sushi! The drawback is that you also have to eat the fishbones in order to score.

To start the game, you randomly lay out the sushi and fishbone tiles in a row. On a turn, you can roll the dice up to three times, but you have to set aside at least one die on each roll. The dice let you claim a sushi tile or a fishbone tile, or steal a tile from another player. The trick is that you must claim a specific tile in a row based on the number of symbols that you rolled; roll two sushi symbols, and you have to claim the second sushi tile no matter how delectable the first tile looks. For more details, head to the game’s webpage on the Zoch website and download rules in German, French or English.

Too early to tell if Rio Grande will be picking this one up?

It has English rules included and language-independent pieces.

Worth picking up , I guess.

As Pickomino is my wife’s favourite game, and sushi is her favourite food, what could possibly go wrong here?
