Lookout Games to Hold Fundraiser at Spiel 08
Lookout Games has announced a rich crop of Agricola-related items for release at Spiel 08, with proceeds from some of those items serving as a fundraiser for an Ethiopian farmer’s initiative. During Spiel, for example, Lookout will auction English-language copies of the Agricola X-deck, currently available only in German as an insert in Spielbox magazine.
Lookout will also have bottles of Agri-Cola, brewed by Bauerei Göller, Zeil am Main, that are available as a thank you gift for those who donate. Note that Agri-Cola will not be for sale, but only as a donation-related thank you.
For details on how and where the funds will be used, visit the Lookout Games website.

I’m surprised they don’t auction off the English X-Deck online. They would probably make a lot more money from all the crazy Agricola obsessors. Not that I wouldn’t mind getting a copy myself, but I seriously doubt someone would be nice enough to mail me the stuff even if I paid for all expenses… :-/ Posted by Stefan Lopuszanski on Oct 20, 2008 at 08:59 AM | #

The key to feeding Africa is better farms, not more government emergency food aid, so I applaud Lookout’s fundraising efforts! Ethiopia was especially hard hit by a drought this year, but even so a government-run research center beat the drought with smart irrigation systems and higher-yielding seeds combined with correctly-applied fertilizers and pesticides. What Ethiopia needs are better farming tools, so auctions like this are definitely a step in the right direction! I’m glad to see the “Agricola hype” being used for a good purpose. Good job Lookout Games! Posted by Diane Close on Oct 20, 2008 at 09:15 AM | #
