Lucca Games and daVinci Announce Game Design Contest Theme
Lucca Games and daVinci Editrice have announced the theme for the 2008 Miglior Gioco Inedito—the best unpublished game contest that has led to the publication of Lucca Citta, F.A.T.A. and Borneo (the winners from 2004-2006)—and that theme is Nessun Dorma.
Qu’est que c’est, you might ask? Nessun Dorma, for those not in the know, as was yours truly until about fifteen minutes ago, is an aria from the final act of Puccini’s opera Turandot, one that Pavarotti made (relatively) famous. Lucca is Puccini’s hometown, and 2008 is the 150th anniversary of his birthday, making his creation a suitable challenge for this year’s Gioco Inedito.
Details of the contest will be published on the websites of Lucca Comics & Games and daVinci Editrice on February 15, 2008.

In the opera “Turandot,” a queen must figure out the name of a mysterious prince, which will release her from the obligation to marry him. She decrees that “none shall sleep” ("Nessun dorma") until his name is known. A deduction game? Posted by Roger Ngim on Feb 9, 2008 at 02:31 PM | #
